3 things pet sitters love
If you want your pet sitter (or walker) to be happy, try out these!
1 — Write your instructions down
They may seem simple to you. Or your animal may be pretty laid down and have no special instructions. But your petsitter is probably taking care of (or walking) other animals besides your own.
Having a handy reference with the animal information plus the things we need to watch out for is super helpful! From allergies, to how much food and how often, giving these details in writing helps your pet sitter stay on top of these things (and minimizes the risk that they forget some of them).
2 — Bring your pet reasonably clean
This one may sound like a no-brainer, but I have often been left to take care of dogs (for weeks!) that were really stinky from day 1. This is particularly common during the summer holidays.
As a common courtesy, and also to make sure your pet is as comfortable as possible, make sure that you deal with things like bathing them or trimming their nails before leaving them with someone for extended periods of time.
3 — Feedback
Every pet owner is different. Some enjoy brief but common messages to let them know their pet is fine, while others may prefer long, wordless videos of their pets.
Did you crack up with that silly picture they sent you of your cat? Were you thankful that they took your dog for an extra long run on the beach? Then tell your pet sitter!
Even if it’s just a 🤣 or 🤎 it will let your pet sitter know that you enjoy the way we are communicating and taking care of your pet.
